Pet care guide
A happy pet needs four things: food, a wash, some fun and a good sleep. Here is how to give it all of them.
The four needs
| Need | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Food | How full your pet's tummy is. | Feed it in the kitchen. |
| Clean | How fresh your pet feels. | Give it a bath. |
| Fun | How happy your pet is. | Play a game together. |
| Energy | How rested your pet is. | Tuck it in for a nap. |
Each need shows as Full, Okay or Low. When a need is low, its care button glows: that is the best time to help, because care your pet really needs counts the most. Needs go down slowly, and they go down even more slowly while your pet sleeps, so a pet does not go hungry overnight.
Feeding in the kitchen
Tap Feed to open the kitchen and pick a meal: Crunchy Apple, Berry Bowl, Veggie Soup, Cheese Sandwich, Fish Crackers or Noodle Bowl. Every species has a favourite meal, marked with a heart, which makes your pet extra happy.
- Meals fill your pet's tummy.
- Treats, like Pancake Stack and Cupcake, are a yummy extra. They fill a little and make your pet smile, but they do not count as looking after its tummy.
- When your pet is full, it will politely say "No thank you, I'm full!"
Bath time
Tap Clean to go to the bathroom and scrub your pet with the sponge until every grubby spot is gone. A bath makes your pet completely fresh again. If your pet is wearing an outfit, it takes it off for the bath and puts it back on after.
Playing games
Tap Play to choose a game: Bubble Pop, Fetch, Copy-Cat, Hide and Seek, Memory Match, Pop-Up Pals or Star Catch. Every game makes your pet happier. Games are just for fun: there is no score to beat, and every game helps your pet the same amount.
Naps and sleep
When your pet's energy is low, tap Sleep. A nap lasts about an hour and your pet wakes up by itself, full of energy. You can wake it early if you need to, but it will be a little grumpy and still tired.
If your pet gets sick
A pet that is left very grubby or very hungry for a long time can get sick. Do not worry: tap Medicine, and three doses always make it better, however long it was poorly. Being sick never makes a pet leave you.
Training
From the child stage, Train takes your pet to the training room for Hurdle Hop, Power Punch, Balance Beam, Climbing Wall, Tug of War, Jump Rope or Stretch Time. Training uses some energy and makes your pet a little hungry, and it earns experience so your pet levels up. Every activity gives the same reward, so pick your favourite.
Growing up
| Stage | How old | What is new |
|---|---|---|
| Baby | The first 12 hours | Tiny and round, with no arms yet. |
| Child | Until 2 days old | Little arms appear. Training opens. |
| Teen | Until 4 days old | Taller, with a fuller species feature. |
| Grown-up | From 4 days old | Its adult look, and it can battle. |
Bright, Brave and Wild
How you look after your pet at each stage shows in how it looks at the next one. A pet that was cared for well grows up Bright, with rosy cheeks and a sun flower. A pet that missed a few things grows up Brave, with a sporty look. A pet that was often left waiting grows up Wild, with round tufts and freckles. All three are cute, and each battles in its own way: a Bright pet is sturdy, while a Wild pet is quicker and hits harder but is easier to knock about. Good care still gives the steadiest battler.
Hearts in Classic mode
In Classic mode your pet has five hearts. Losing a Training or Arena battle takes a heart away (a friendly battle never does), and looking after your pet when it really needs you brings hearts back. Battle wins never bring hearts back: care does. Missed care never takes a heart. In Gentle mode there are no hearts to worry about.
Going on holiday
Going away for a while? A grown-up can switch on holiday mode in Settings. Your pet waits safely while you are gone: its needs stay where they are, it does not grow older, it cannot get sick and it does not lose hearts. Care and battles take a break too. When you are back, a grown-up switches holiday mode off and everything carries on from that moment. Nothing is owed and nothing is lost.
Reminders and starting fresh
If you switch them on, the game can send a gentle reminder when your pet is getting hungry, grubby, bored or tired. A grown-up sets quiet hours, and in a web browser reminders only work while the game is open in a tab. There are no reminders while your pet is on holiday.
If you would ever like a brand-new egg, a grown-up can start fresh in the settings. Your old pet goes off to live in the Meadow and is kept in your Pet Album, so you can always look back at every pet you have raised.
Quick tips
- Pop in a few times a day. Long gaps are fine, but little and often is best.
- Help when a button glows: that care counts the most.
- Try your pet's favourite meal. Its happy face is worth it.
- Let naps finish by themselves when you can.
